There’s no arguing the fact that even though Jamaica is a tropical island, we have seasons. Mango season, pear season, ackee season, lime season, dry season and rainy season. We have just emerged from one of the rainiest times to have occurred in years, and now we are all enjoying the after effects. The waterfalls are cascading, the rivers and dams are overflowing, flowers are brightly in bloom and the landscape is lush all over.
Growth isn’t just occurring in our backyards, it is occurring in all corners of the market. 2016 was an incredible year for the Coldwell Banker team, as we jumped on board to sell developments such as Tres Vistas, The Sullivan and Phoenix Estates (to name a few), sold several of the highest priced luxury villas on the market and were consistent in our townhouse, apartment and commercial sales.
The market continues to strengthen and in 2017 we are looking forward to servicing developers even better than before and selling their projects in a timely manner. The first new development project of the year is Widcombe Estate, a gated 25-acre property in the hills of Kingston 6 with 32 single family lots. With the proximity to Barbican and Liguanea, great price point and a shortage of housing in Kingston 6, we anticipate these lots to be high in demand.
Just a few weeks ago, the New York Times mentioned Kingston as one of it’s 52 Places To Go In 2017. We anticipate that we’ll be seeing many more tourists in our capital city and many more real estate investors. And apart from the Kingston market, investor confidence is building island-wide. New projects such as the opening of the Sandals over the water suites and soon-to-be Spanish Court Hotel in Montego Bay, a new development in Reading , coupled with the announcement by the Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett of five new hotels breaking ground in January to the plans for major development in Mammee Bay by overseas investors, 2017 is, to say the least, shaping up nicely.
As the year gets underway, don’t forget to keep up with all of the happenings at Coldwell Banker Jamaica Realty through our website www.cbjamaica.com, our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages or through one of our 92 agents, who are always available to assist with any advice on buying or selling a property. We never stop moving!
Until next time, walk good!
