here in Jamaica can you find that ‘first-world’ feeling coupled with the charm of island living, which offers beach access, high-end restaurants, top-tier medical facilities, the Knutsford Express, and an easy commute to three airports? Drax Hall.
This developing area, located just off the North-South Highway that connects Kingston with Montego Bay, has become a hotbed for potential investment in the last couple of years.
When housing developments like Richmond Estates, Drax Hall Manor, and Drax Hall Country Club began emerging in this ‘corridor’ between two cities, they challenged many to reimagine ‘living in Jamaica.’ With the promise of an easy commute and a lower price tag, more returning residents and young professionals began to choose country over city living, and the power of their pockets gave birth to a unique business opportunity for those who already owned large parcels of land in the area.
Landowners like Andrew Salm and his late father, Richard Salm, had the vision to create a smart retail and commercial hub at the Drax Hall Commercial Centre. They focused on developing the commercial hub first, identifying the right clientele to shape the area’s growth. “The approved master plan for Drax Hall Estate, which already has over 1,000 built houses plus approval for future development, means a guaranteed base to support the increase in commercial activity,” explains Andrew.
As a result, the Knutsford Express has made Drax Hall their central hub. Popular brands like KFC, CPJ, Starbucks, Fitness Express, and most recently, Uncorked Ochi, have also chosen to open locations in this emerging market. And the developments just keep on coming! Drax Hall Ltd. Developments has recently completed Fairway Estate, a residential complex of 103 units that includes amenities such

as a pool, clubhouse, gym, and tennis court, located near The Cove Beach (which they also own), and they are gearing up to build another development on the hillside that will offer another 137 units.
“Our vision for Drax Hall is that the residents who live here don’t have to travel to access anything they want or need. We would like to create a space with all amenities, including access to health services, retail groceries, fitness and wellness facilities, and all other things that make up a first-class living environment,” says Andrew.
